performative lecture exploring themes of love in contemporary performance art

watch

Feel At Least Something is a performance lecture about how contemporary performance artists work with the themes of love and human intimacy. the formation of performance art as a type of art is associated with the movements of artists and activists in the 60s/70s of the 20th century, who fiercely wanted to make art that could not be bought or exhibited in a museum, that did not need a big stage and a huge budget. part of these movements has anti-war and anti-colonial sentiment, as well as intimate. the day before a national Russian holiday that promotes militarism, we offer our performance art as a spray against paramilitary mosquitoes. bodies are there to make connections, not to defend the homeland, and performance artists know this better than anyone else. we will look at how the theme of love has been reflected in performance art over the past 60 years, and how its power and trauma contrast with the commodification of relationships in western societies.
